Thanks to the generous sponsorship from Reliant, the Texas State Aquarium is offering one lucky Title I school the opportunity to participate in our Wildlife Rescue on the Road program—completely free of charge! This unique program, valued at up to $5,000 depending on travel distance, is available to Title I schools located within 80 to 250 miles of the Aquarium. Designed for students in grades 5th-8th, this unique program, will let your students step into the role of wildlife rescuers—locating, rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing animals in need.

Each year, thousands of protected, threatened, or endangered species along the Texas coast become ill or injured. The Texas State Aquarium’s Wildlife Rescue Program has helped many stranded marine mammals, sea turtles, raptors, and shorebirds after they are injured in the wild. Now your students can join us in a hands-on, interactive learning mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and release our local wildlife. During our Wildlife Rescue on the Road program, students will experience what it’s like as a member of our rescue team as the strive to save animals in need!
Program Details
Eligibility: Your school MUST be a Title I school located within 80 to 250 miles from the Texas State Aquarium.
Only science teachers, school administrators, or the principal can submit an application on behalf of the school.
Target Grades: 5th to 8th grade
Group Size: Groups of 16 to 20 students, with a maximum of 20 students per session.
Program Duration: ~35-40 minutes per session (+10 minutes reset time between sessions).
Scheduling: We can teach during the afternoon on Day 1 and a full day on Day 2, depending on travel logistics.
Student Grouping: Students must be divided into pre-assigned groups before the session starts.
Selection: Only one school will be chosen, so make sure to apply soon!
