Outreach Programs

Are you looking for the Aquarium to come to you?

Our education team travels to visit schools, libraries, and community events to share hands-on, engaging experiences all over Texas! Program availability is limited, so please submit your request at least 2 weeks prior to your preferred program date. Pricing varies depending on location, quantity of participants, and other factors. Please complete our Outreach Request Form for a customized quote. 

  • Wildlife rescue on the road


    The Texas State Aquarium rescues all types of animals, including dolphins, raptors and shorebirds, and sea turtles in need! Students will participate in a hands-on experience of how our team comes to the rescue, acting as rescuers, and learn which tools we use to save our local wildlife!

    This is a 45-minute program, best suited for learners in 3rd grade and above, and each session can accommodate up to 30 participants.

  • Jungle Moves


    We will move and groove as your students investigate the animals of the Aquarium’s Caribbean Jungle. Students will explore animal adaptations for movement and even practice moving like animals.

    This is a 30-minute program, best suited for learners in PreK – Kindergarten, and each session can accommodate up to 30 participants.

  • Seaside shells


    Seashells come in all shapes and sizes, colors too! Students will investigate patterns, textures, colors, and shapes by sorting their own bags of real shells. They will also learn about the animals that live in shells and enjoy a story about one of these animals.

    This is a 30-minute program, best suited for learners in Kindergarten – 2nd grade, and each session can accommodate up to 30 participants.

  • Let's Talk Sharks!


    How do sharks survive the challenges of nature and those presented by humans? Students will investigate shark adaptations for swimming, sensing prey and escaping predators. They will also discover how scientists’ study and track sharks in the ocean, and what they can do to save our sharks!

    This is a 45-minute program, best suited for learners in 3rd – 5th grade, and each session can accommodate up to 30 participants.

  • Reptiles


    Discover some of the Aquarium’s reptile animal ambassadors and identify their adaptations, learning how these features help them survive in their habitats. Participants will learn what types of reptiles call Texas their home and how we can help keep them safe.

    This is a 45-minute program that can be tailored to engage learners of all ages and each session can accommodate up to 30 participants.

  • Aquarium to You


    The Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean are dynamic and diverse ecosystems that support a wide range of life. Learners of all ages will discover some of the many plants and animals that live here, and how human impact affects these organisms, as we bring the Aquarium to you!

    This is a booth style set-up, well suited for large events, festivals, etc. This program can be tailored to suit the needs of any group!

  • WHEN CAN I BOOK A PROGRAM?

    Program availability is limited, we recommend submitting requests at least 2 weeks prior to your preferred program date. 

  • HOW FAR CAN THE AQUARIUM TRAVEL?

    The Texas State Aquarium now proudly travels all over Texas to offer our Outreach programs! Please complete our inquiry form for a customized quote based on your location. 

  • ARE THESE PROGRAMS ONLY FOR SCHOOLS?

    Not at all! We visit schools as well as libraries, community centers, parks and more to share hands-on, engaging experiences with a variety of groups including birthday parties, senior centers, homeschool groups, professional meetings, and so on.  We are happy to work with you to accommodate your group’s needs and interests. 

  • WILL THERE BE A LIVE ANIMAL FEATURED IN THE PROGRAM?

    Including a live-animal ambassador is an option for some of our programs upon request, however a live-animal component is not guaranteed. 

  • HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN PARTICIPATE IN ONE PROGRAM?

    Most programs are intended for a group size of 30If you anticipate a larger group, please contact us to discuss the best options for your program.
