Texas State Aquarium Nominated for USA TODAY 10Best Aquariums in North America

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The Texas State Aquarium is honored to announce its nomination for the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Award for Best Aquarium in North America. The Texas State Aquarium is one of 20 contenders vying for the top 10 spots.

To arrive at the current nominees, the USA TODAY editorial team compiled data provided by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA.org), a trade association which holds its members to the highest of industry standards. In choosing the top 20 aquariums, USA TODAY considered annual visitor count, square footage, total aquarium gallons, membership numbers, affordability of entrance fees, awards won and commitment to conservation efforts.

“We are pleased to hear that we are once again considered one of 20 best aquariums in North America,” said President and CEO Tom Schmid. “We are not only one of the most popular attractions in South Texas, but maintain several education and conservation programs. Our newest expansion, Caribbean Journey, will more than double our size and catapult us into one of the best aquariums in the nation and a global leader in conservation.”

Voting is open now and ends Monday, March 27 at 12:00 p.m. EDT.  The public can vote once per day at the following link: http://www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-aquarium-2017/texas-state-aquarium-corpus-christi-texas/
