Harte Research Institute Presents Let’s Talk Sharks

It’s Shark Week and the Texas State Aquarium has the largest screen to watch the show! Join us as Associate Research Scientist Dr. Kesley Banks with the Harte Research Institute at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi hosts the Let's Talk Sharks presentation at the Texas State Aquarium on Friday, July 12th at 11:30 a.m. Dr. Banks will join fellow scientists from HRI’s Center for Sportfish Science and Conservation in the lobby after the presentation until 1:00 p.m. to answer any questions that guests may have.
You won’t want to miss this special event, as Dr. Banks will deliver a packed-to-the-gills educational experience for visitors at the Aquarium’s Caribbean Sea Exhibit. Follow Dr. Banks, as she uncovers the mysteries behind these curious creatures. She will provide insight into the habits and patterns that sharks display and how various species of sharks can differ. Although we tend to fear the unknown, humans are a case of mistaken identity as sharks explore with their mouths by bumping or biting. Learn to push your fears aside and gain an awareness of the special characteristics attributed to sharks, and the way they affect their habitats.
Every healthy ecosystem in the ocean is teeming with sharks. Sharks have been an integral part of the oceanic community for 455 million years!
