Sensory Sensitive Sunday

Sun. September 24, 2023 9:00 am - 11:30 am

Every last Sunday during the winter and spring months, anyone with sensory sensitivities will be able to enjoy the Aquarium in a quieter, modified environment.

This event will feature sensory-friendly modifications, modified animal presentations, and staff with sensory disorder training, all of which are designed to create a comfortable environment for families and their children who normally may not have the opportunity to enjoy public spaces like the Aquarium. Lowered music, designated quiet zones, and special signage will be placed throughout the Aquarium to inform families what to expect in a space, including lights, music changes, and free-flying birds.

We are thrilled to partner with Driscoll Health Plan & The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Awareness Month. We will have ASL Interpreters throughout the facility and at the 11:00 a.m. DOLPHINS! Presentation.

Tickets are available for pre-sale by emailing [email protected]

Sensory Sensitive Sunday events are included with your membership!

This event is held as part of the Texas State Aquarium’s Diversity & Inclusion Initiative and is sponsored by Driscoll Health Plan.
