Boo! in the Blue presented by Whataburger will include frightful fins, haunted habitats, a costume contest...and candy!

The Texas State Aquarium is thrilled to welcome you for FUN under spooktacular seascapes at the annual Boo! in the Blue event on Saturday, October 19th, and Sunday, October 20th.

The Aquarium will be open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on both days with “Boo! in the Blue” activities from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Spooky decor and haunted habitats will bring an eerie experience to Aquarium guests. Underwater skeletons, jack-o-lanterns carved by divers sitting among ocean creatures, and giant shark jaws covered in cobwebs will all make for some fintastic photo ops.

All activities are included with admission or membership, and children (ages 3 to 12) in costume will get a 50% admission discount* with the purchase of a full-priced adult admission. Membership admission is not applicable for child discounts.

Costume Contest – Winner Announced October 31st

A virtual costume contest will be held starting October 19th ending October 30th, 2024.

Winning is super easy!

• Join us at the Aquarium from October 19th to October 30th. Come and take your photos during our Boo! in the Blue event or with any of our spooky backgrounds until October 30th to capture a photo of your amazing costume!
• Submit your photos by tagging us @txstateaquarium on Instagram or Facebook
• Follow us on Instagram or Facebook.
• The winner for the three best costumes will be announced on social media platforms on October 31!
• Kids up to 13 years old will be considered for the Boo! in the Blue virtual costume contest.

Contest Rules:

• Submitted photo needs to be taken at the Texas State Aquarium between Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 30 for the Virtual Costume Contest to be considered.
• Kids up to 13 years old will be considered for the contest.
• Entries must tag the Aquarium @txstateaquarium
• There is no limit to the number of photos each individual may submit. However, each entry must be submitted separately on Facebook or Instagram.
• Photos may include individuals or groups. One prize per individual or group.
• Contest entrants agree that, if their photo is selected as a winner, the Texas State Aquarium may use the entrant’s name and photo for promotional purposes, possibly including, but not limited to, social media posts and an official announcement on the Texas State Aquarium website.
• Process: Aquarium staff will choose their top costumes for the three age categories. All entries will be judged on costume, creativity AND LOCATION/BACKGROUND where the photo was taken. Be creative!  We have so many great spots to take photos.
• Winners will be notified on Thursday, October 31, 2024 on the Aquarium’s Instagram, Facebook and other social media pages, where winners will be announced and photos displayed.
• Contest entrants will not be compensated or reimbursed for their photo submissions.
• Prize: Each winner will receive goodies from the Aquarium and our presenting partner, Whataburger, as well as have their photos displayed on our social media channels.
