Boo! in the Blue presented by Whataburger will include frightful fins, haunted habitats, a costume contest...and candy!

The Texas State Aquarium is thrilled to welcome you for FUN under spooktacular seascapes at the annual Boo! in the Blue event on Saturday, October 19th, and Sunday, October 20th.

The Aquarium will be open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on both days with “Boo! in the Blue” activities from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Spooky decor and haunted habitats will bring an eerie experience to Aquarium guests. Underwater skeletons, jack-o-lanterns carved by divers sitting among ocean creatures, and giant shark jaws covered in cobwebs will all make for some fintastic photo ops.

All activities are included with admission or membership. Children ages 3 to 12 in costume will receive one 50% off admission per paid adult ticket. All other children in costume in the party will be charged the general admission Child rate. Membership admission is not applicable for child discounts.

Join us at the Texas State Aquarium for a thrilling virtual costume contest starting Saturday, October 19th, and running through October 30th, 2024. Winners will be revealed on Halloween Day, October 31st!

Winning is easy!

• Visit Us: Capture your best costume at the Aquarium during our Boo! in the Blue event or in front of any of our spooky backdrops until October 30th.
• Submit Your Photos: Share your pictures on Instagram or Facebook, tagging us @txstateaquarium.
• Bonus Entry: Post your photo to your stories and tag us for an extra chance to win!
• Follow Us: Make sure you’re following us on Instagram and Facebook to stay updated!
• Open to kids up to 13 years old.
• Be Creative! We will select the top costumes based on creativity, costume quality, and the uniqueness of the location/background. So get creative! We have plenty of fantastic spots for photo ops!

We’re looking for the three best costumes in our virtual costume contest, with winners announced on our social media on October 31st! 

Contest Rules:

1. Photo Eligibility: Submitted photos must be taken at the Texas State Aquarium between October 19th and October 30th.
2. Age Limit: Contestants must be 13 years old or younger.
3. Tag Us: Don’t forget to tag @txstateaquarium in your entry!
4. Submission Limit: There’s no limit on the number of photos you can submit, but each entry must be posted separately on Facebook or Instagram.
5. Individual & Group Entries: Photos can feature individuals or groups. However, only one prize will be awarded per individual or group.
6. Promotional Agreement: By entering, you agree that if your photo is selected as a winner, the Texas State Aquarium may use your name and photo for promotional purposes, including but not limited to social media posts and an announcement on our website.
7. Judging Criteria: We will select the top costumes based on creativity, costume quality, and the uniqueness of the location/background. So get creative! We have plenty of fantastic spots for photo ops!
8. Announcement of Winners: Winners will be announced on October 31st, 2024, via our Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms.

Prizes: Each winner will receive special goodies from the Aquarium and our presenting partner, Whataburger.
