June 13, 2023

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – On Friday, May 19th, the Texas State Aquarium hosted a luau-themed “Dream Night” to provide children with special needs and their families a private, modified evening to experience the Aquarium. This event is in partnership with Driscoll Health Plan.

Summer Dream Night activities included animal encounters, a 4D movie, a dive show, and modified DOLPHINS! presentation, as well as activity and resource tabling booths, provided by various local organizations. Special Hearts in the Arts, a local non-profit that provides performance opportunities to individuals with special needs, performed a fun and vibrant musical number for attendees.

To inform guests with sensory processing differences about upcoming experiences, “What to Expect” signage was placed throughout the event space, and designated quiet zones were provided for guests.
