Texas State Aquarium and Padre Island National Seashore Mascots to Dance-Off for Sea Turtle Awareness

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS -  The official mascots of the Texas State Aquarium (TSA) and the Padre Island National Seashore (PINS) will meet at the Aquarium on Saturday, March 31 to help spread the word on the beginning of the Kemp’s ridley sea turtle nesting season. The nesting season for these endangered sea turtles is from April through mid-July.

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS –  The official mascots of the Texas State Aquarium (TSA) and the Padre Island National Seashore (PINS) will meet at the Aquarium on Saturday, March 31 to help spread the word on the beginning of the Kemp’s ridley sea turtle nesting season. The nesting season for these endangered sea turtles is from April through mid-July.

Dorsey and Tiki, the respective dolphin and sea turtle mascots of TSA will join forces with Seashore Sandy of PINS to encourage guests visiting our Gulf beaches to watch carefully for nesting Kemp’s ridleys and report them immediately to (361) 949-8173, ext. 226.

Dorsey, Tiki, and Seashore Sandy will be in the Aquarium lobby on March 31 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. for pictures with guests. At 11 a.m., the three mascots will meet the SCUBA Easter Bunny at the “Diver in the Water” presentation in H-E-B Caribbean Sea. Finally, the mascots will hold a dance-off at 11:15 in Dolphin Bay.

Dorsey will also be available for pictures and interactions with guests from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday and will also be at the Aquarium on Sunday, April 1 from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

The Texas State Aquarium features free parking and is open on Saturday, March 31 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and on Sunday, April 1 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Guests can skip the line by purchasing tickets at texasstateaquarium.org.
