Texas State Aquarium Closing Tuesday, January 21, Due to Cold Weather
January 20, 2025
Corpus Christi, TX – Due to the anticipated impact of cold temperatures in the Coastal Bend, the Texas State Aquarium will be closed on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Forecasted freezing temperatures may create hazardous travel conditions and difficult access to North Beach.
The Aquarium has activated its Emergency Operations Center, which will be staffed by essential personnel, including animal care specialists, water quality experts, and operations staff. These dedicated team members will remain onsite to ensure the safety and well-being of the Aquarium’s 4,000+ resident animals and to maintain critical life support systems and handle any power issues due to the potential winter precipitation.
Additionally, the Wildlife Response Operation Center (WROC) at the Port Corpus Christi Center for Wildlife Rescue, has also been activated and will be on standby to assist any wildlife affected by the storm.
The Aquarium will continue to monitor weather and road conditions and will assess reopening plans for Wednesday, January 22, based on access to North Beach.
The safety of our guests, staff, and animals remains our top priority. We encourage the public to stay informed by visiting our website and following updates on our social media channels at www.texasstateaquarium.org
