New National Geographic Exhibit and 4D Film accompanies opening of H-E-B Splash Park Memorial Day Weekend

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Lots of action is anticipated at the Texas State Aquarium this Memorial Day Weekend as the Aquarium will extend its hours, re-open the H-E-B Splash Park, and officially launch a new 4D film as well as a shark-themed photo gallery. These opportunities along with free parking, give guests a variety of new ways to celebrate the holidays, beat the summer heat and discover the wonders of the ocean.

Starting Friday, May 25, visitors to the Aquarium will come face-to-face or rather, face-to-nose with one of the world’s most mysterious predators in the new exhibition “SHARKS: On Assignment with Brian Skerry,” which will include large-scale images and video from National Geographic Explorer and award-winning photojournalist Brian Skerry. “SHARKS: On Assignment with Brian Skerry” will remain open at Texas State Aquarium until September 3, 2018.

Also starting on May 25, the Texas State Aquarium will begin screening The Deep 4D: Mystery of the Ancient Amulet. This 12-minute fully immersive experience will show every hour in the Aquarium’s Whataburger 4-Dimension Theater, with tickets included at no extra charge with admission or membership.  The Deep 4D: Mystery of the Ancient Amulet features an all-new original story, with exclusive 3D CG animation and stunning special effects to provide the ultimate 4D Experience® with water mist, bubbles, seat vibrations and more! The Deep 4D: Mystery of the Ancient Amulet will run daily alternating with showings of the Shark: a 4D Experience. 4D films at the Texas State Aquarium are included with admission or membership. The last day to see the 4D film Ice Age 4D: No Time for Nuts at the Aquarium is Thursday, May 24.

Starting Saturday, May 26, hours will extend to 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday – Saturday and 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Also on May 26, H-E-B Splash Park, the Aquarium’s popular zero-depth water playground, will re-open for the season. Younger guests can play with interactive water features and splash jets, with entry included with their admission or membership. The H-E-B Splash Park will be open daily from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. May 26 – September 2.
