“Coast Guard Day” at the Texas State Aquarium to Feature Free Admission for Coast Guardsmen and Special Events

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS –  On Sunday, April 22, the Texas State Aquarium will hold a “Coast Guard Day” to honor local Coast Guardsmen and their families for their service with free and discounted admission. All active and veteran Coast Guard members will receive free admission when they show a valid military or veterans ID card. Families of Coast Guardsmen will be admitted for 50 percent off.

From 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., uniformed Coast Guardsmen will be at the Aquarium to speak with guests and media. A Coast Guard boat will also be on-site and available for guests to tour.

“We’re immensely grateful to the men and women of the Coast Guard who have played an essential role in protect both our country’s people and natural resources,” said Texas State Aquarium President & CEO Tom Schmid. “We’ve been proud to partner with the Coast Guard on a number of environmental projects, and this Sunday will be a great opportunity to not only thank the Coast Guard for their service, but to share their important work with the community.”

The Texas State Aquarium most recently partnered with the Coast Guard on January 5, where a Coast Guard vessel was used to transport over 100 rehabilitated sea turtles that had been treated at the Aquarium’s Wildlife Rescue Center and release them offshore in their natural environment.

The Aquarium is open daily from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday – Saturday, and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are available for purchase in advance at texasstateaquarium.org.
