“Dream Night” For Families with Special Needs Held at the Texas State Aquarium

A group of people, including a child in a wheelchair, watch an aquatic show at an outdoor venue with trainers standing near large rock formations by the water. The audience is facing the pool, waiting in anticipation.

Summer Dream Night activities included animal encounters, a 4D movie, a dive show, and modified DOLPHINS! presentation, as well as activity and resource tabling booths, provided by various local organizations. Special Hearts in the Arts, a local non-profit that provides performance opportunities to individuals with special needs, performed a fun and vibrant musical number for attendees.

To inform guests with sensory processing differences about upcoming experiences, “What to Expect” signage was placed throughout the event space, and designated quiet zones were provided for guests.
