Internship and Externship Opportunities

Take your education to a new depth!

The Texas State Aquarium provides internship and externship opportunities for students looking for invaluable experience, professional connections and unique opportunities. They are available in a variety of areas throughout the Aquarium. Our internships and externships are typically offered in the fall, spring and summer and we accept applications year round – deadlines for each term are specified below. Not all areas will have positions available during all semesters.

Applicants must:

  • Apply through the Careers page link. If applicant is chosen for further consideration, they will follow all pre-screening, onboarding, and orientation processes.
  • Be a college student or recent graduate. Husbandry applicants must be 18 and over.
  • Complete any other training or pre-requisites required for their chosen position, arrange any applicable credits through their university, or institution, and arrange all housing and transportation.

*Only applicants that are selected for an interview will be notified of their application status.

Spring term

Application Deadline: November 15
Proposed Intern period: January – April

Summer term

Application Deadline: March 31
Proposed Intern period: May – August

Fall term

Application Deadline: July 31
Proposed Intern period: September – December

  • Emergency Management
  • Information Technology
  • Human Resources
  • Marketing
  • Veterinary Care (Externship Only)
