When wildlife along the Texas coast is injured or stranded, the Texas State Aquarium Wildlife Rescue Center is often where care begins. Our team provides expert medical treatment, rehabilitation, and – when possible – a return to the wild, guided by science and responsibility.

About Wildlife Rescue Center

The Wildlife Rescue Center is the largest coastal wildlife rescue facility in Texas and among the largest in the nation. Our team provides medical care for stranded marine mammals, sea turtles, shorebirds, and other protected species, with the goal of rehabilitation and release whenever possible.

Rescue Stories

Every rescue is unique. From stranded sea turtles to injured shorebirds, our team responds to each case with careful assessment, medical care, and a clear goal—returning animals to the wild whenever possible, or finding them a safe home when return isn’t doable. These stories reflect the realities of our rescue work and the outcomes that follow.
