Texas State Aquarium Honored at Texas Capitol and Showcases Wildlife Rescue & Conservation Efforts

Austin, TX – Today, the Texas State Aquarium, was honored at the Texas Capitol for its leadership in wildlife rescue, conservation, economic impact, and emergency preparedness. A legislative resolution acknowledged the Aquarium’s outstanding contributions to wildlife protection, disaster response, workforce development, and tourism. The resolution was presented by Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, Senator Adam Hinojosa, State Representative, Denise Villalobos, and State Representative Todd Hunter.
Following the resolution, the Texas State Aquarium held an outdoor showcase at the South entrance of the Capitol. This event featured live animal encounters, including a tortoise and a baby alligator, providing attendees with a unique opportunity to learn about the Aquarium’s dedication to rescuing Texas wildlife and enhancing the resilience of the Texas Gulf Coast.
The team highlighted the aquarium’s achievements, such as rehabilitating over 5,000 animals since 1995, and its leadership in wildlife disaster management through the Wildlife Response Operations Center.
