Texas State Aquarium Announces Temporary Closure Due to Hurricane Beryl
July 6, 2024
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Due to the anticipated impact of Hurricane Beryl around the coastal bend, the Texas State Aquarium will be closed on Sunday, July 7 and Monday, July 8, 2024. Heavy rains are forecasted for the Corpus Christi area, potentially leading to flash flooding and difficult access to North Beach.
The Aquarium has activated its Emergency Operations Center, staffed by essential personnel including animal care specialists, water quality experts, and operations staff. These dedicated team members will remain onsite to ensure the safety and well-being of the over 300 species that call the Aquarium home and to maintain critical life support systems and habitats.
Additionally, the Aquarium’s Wildlife Response Operation Center (WROC) will be on standby to respond to any wildlife affected by the storm.
The Aquarium will assess weather and road conditions to determine reopening on Tuesday, July 9, pending access to North Beach.
The Aquarium is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for our guests and will continue to monitor weather conditions closely. The public is encouraged to stay informed about the Aquarium’s status and follow any guidance or updates provided via the Aquarium’s website and social media channels at www.texasstateaquarium.org.
