Texas State Aquarium to Host Emergency Drill with First Responders

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – On Thursday, May 11 at 3:00 p.m., the Texas State Aquarium will host a joint emergency drill with the Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD) and other first responders.

Several CCFD and state emergency vehicles will be in the bus turnaround near the Aquarium’s small parking lot. The presence of first responders at the Aquarium on Thursday, May 11 is for the drill, and does not signify an actual emergency.

For several years the Aquarium’s Safety and Security team has worked with CCFD to plan their coordinated response to a hurricane, diving accident, injury, or other emergency incident. During this drill, the CCFD’s hazardous material (HAZMAT) unit and a state response agency will respond.

The drill will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Wild Flight Theater. There is no expected impact to Aquarium guests, but the Aquarium’s Guest Services team will notify all guests of the drill as they enter the Aquarium.
