February 15, 2021
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Texas State Aquarium is pleased to report that the animals and our ride out team are all safe. However, due to weather conditions and out of an abundance of caution, the Texas State Aquarium will remain closed tomorrow, Tuesday, February 16. The Aquarium plans to reopen, Wednesday Feb. 17, weather and road conditions permitting.
During this closing period, an Incident Command Center operates of essential staff, including animal care, water quality, and various operations personnel, will remain at the Aquarium to maintain habitats and critical life support systems and provide care for the more than 400 species that make their Aquarium their home.
Additionally, the Texas State Aquarium, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Padre Island National Seashore, and numerous partners around the Texas Coast will continue to do significant conservation work, through the challenging weather, with incoming cold-stunned sea turtles. This vital fieldwork with partners will continue through the upcoming weeks.
For more information as it develops, guests, members, and other supporters of the Aquarium are encouraged to follow the Aquarium’s social media accounts and website at www.texasstateaquarium.org.
