Texas State Aquarium Wildlife Care, Conservation, and Research Fund 2018 Small Grants Competition

Texas State Aquarium is accepting applications for grants of up to $20,000 to support conservation and research projects involving species and habitats interpreted at the Aquarium.

In 2013, Texas State Aquarium established the Wildlife Care, Conservation, and Research Fund (WCCR) to further its mission to engage people with animals, inspire appreciation of our seas, and support wildlife conservation.

Project Guidelines

  • Projects must focus on species in the Aquarium’s living collection or habitats that support those species.
  • Projects must fall under one of five categories; Conservation Management, Fisheries Management, Habitat Restoration, Species Sustainability/Species Culturing, or Wildlife Management.
  • Grant funds may not be used for indirect/overhead costs.

Grant applications should include program narratives on how proposed projects address the project guidelines referenced above.  In addition, a program budget must be included that identifies the key cost categories where grant funds will be expended.  WCCR funding is intended as seed money, and applicants should include a summary of additional funds anticipated in the application.

Outreach Requirement

Applicants must agree to participate in project interpretation for public education audiences as requested and mutually agreed upon by Aquarium staff and investigators.

Deadline

Grant applications are due on or before Wednesday, 20 June, 2018.

Grant period

Mid-August 2018 – 30 August 2019

Successful applicants must submit a grant report by 31 December 2018.
