Gilbert Promoted to Vice President & Chief Operating Officer at Texas State Aquarium
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The Texas State Aquarium is pleased to announce the promotion of Jesse Gilbert to Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of the Texas State Aquarium. Gilbert joined the Aquarium in 2003 from the Tulsa Zoo & Living Museum. Hired on as an Aquarist, Gilbert was quickly promoted to Lead Aquarist, Senior Aquarist, Curator of Fishes, and finally Director of Animal Husbandry before being named to his new position.
Gilbert received his Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi, and is currently finishing his Master's in Mariculture and Fisheries at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi.
In addition to overseeing all animal care areas, safety, exhibits and programming, Gilbert will be providing guidance and direction for the Aquarium’s Maintenance and Physical Plant operations
