ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Follow established procedures for opening.
- Operate cash register and make correct change; maintain accountability for cash drawer.
- Follow established procedures for closing.
- Follow established procedures to check in groups, members and their guests.
- Follow established procedures to sell memberships and complete associated paperwork.
- Provide a high standard of service to guests and interact positively with staff members and volunteers.
- May serve as exhibit monitor as assigned.
- May wear mascot costume as assigned.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of and ability to follow Aquarium guest service procedures
- Ability to understand and follow instructions, both written and oral
- Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
- Ability to operate cash register and to make correct change
- Ability to speak clearly and succinctly
- Ability to maintain Aquarium-issued uniform, and to wear it correctly and completely
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
- Skill in interacting with the public
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Any combination of education and experience which would likely produce the required knowledge, skills and abilities; ability to speak Spanish is preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is generally performed in an air-conditioned setting. Some aspects of the job, however, may require working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work can be demanding. Duties require the physical capability of standing and/or walking for long periods of time, bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds without help.
