EXHIBIT HOST [Seasonal Position]
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with providing quality guest experiences.
- Act as usher/greeter at the amphitheater during shows.
- Station at Dolphin Bay stadium between performances to ensure the safety of the public and the dolphins.
- Host and interact with guests at Ground Floor open exhibits including Stingray Flats and playground when not stationed in amphitheater or stadium.
- Answer questions about the exhibits/animals and the Texas State Aquarium.
- Direct guests to exhibits/programs.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of and ability to follow guest service procedures
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with public audiences of all ages
- Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required
- Ability to understand and follow instructions, both written and oral
- Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
- Ability to maintain Aquarium-issued uniform, and to wear it correctly and completely
- Knowledge of local, Gulf of Mexico, and Caribbean marine ecology and natural history helpful

Any combination of education and experience which would likely produce the required knowledge, skills and abilities

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Some duties are performed in an air-conditioned environment; others will be performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions. The ability to stand and walk for long periods of time is required.
