INSTRUCTOR [3 Seasonal Positions]
Sensitive Position – Background Check Required

• Conduct on-site educational programs including but not limited to guided tours, gallery programs, Bay Bytes, Shoreline Encounters, SeaLab, and Camp-ins.
• Conduct outreach programs including MOAQ for school and community groups.
• Maintain field equipment.
• Assist with Family Learning Center and Interpretation duties as needed.
• Participate in special events.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Demonstrated skill in effectively teaching children in both structured and unstructured settings
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with people of all ages
• Knowledge of local marine life
• Knowledge of proper use and care of scientific equipment
• Ability to speak Spanish strongly preferred
• Ability to work with children ages 3 through 18 and adults
• Ability to collect and handle marine specimens
• Ability to perform strenuous physical activities in an outdoor setting
• Ability to work a variable and flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays as required
• Skill in boating, canoeing and swimming

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience which would likely produce the required knowledge, skills and abilities; prefer experience conducting formal or informal education programs

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Driver’s license and an insurable driving record
Prefer First Aid and CPR certification

WORKING CONDITIONS:
