Ways to Support the Aquarium

Your donations are so important to the Texas State Aquarium and your decision to support our mission of environmental education, conservation and wildlife rehabilitation is one that impacts our shared future. Your support helps make sure the wonders of nature are preserved for future generations to enjoy.

We channel every dollar you give directly into enhancing and expanding some aspect of the Aquarium experience. For example, $150 can:
  • Rehabilitate three endangered Brown Pelicans;
  • Feed one dolphin for 18 days, ten seahorses for three weeks, one adult sea turtle for six months or the Aquariums entire fish collection for four days;
  • Provide a one-month stock of toys for our dolphins; Cobie, Shadow, D.J. and Kai;
  • Buy fifteen classic sea stories for Westons Library; or
  • Supply 100 boxes of crayons, 75 boxes of markers or three large rolls of butcher paper for the Family Learning Center.
There are several options for giving, so you can make a gift that is most significant to you.

  • The President's Council is our leadership group of annual donors representing those generous individuals who give $1,000 or more each year. As a member of this leadership group, you will receive special recognition on the Annual Giving Wall and VIP invitations to behind-the-scenes animal encounters and exhibit updates, as well as optional benefits such as membership and guest passes.

  • The Wildlife Rehabilitation Program is a specially designated fund that cares for injured animals, with the intent of rehabilitating them so they can return to their homes in the wild.

  • The Exhibit Development Fund is another specially designated fund that supports the creation of new exhibits.

  • The Gloria Hicks Education Endowment, (special designated fund) provides educational programs to children who may not otherwise be able to experience them.

  • Gifts to Weston's Library improve that area of our Family Learning Center for all guests by providing new books, educational games, and supplies.

In recognition of your generosity, all donors will be recognized in the Aquarium's annual report. Donors who give $150.00 or more to any fund receive special recognition on the Annual Giving Wall in the main lobby of the Aquarium. In addition, we have Extended Naming Programs that allow you to show your support for the Aquarium and the community - and place a brick paver or plaque with your name on it within the Aquarium.

Gifts to the Aquarium where no tangible benefits are received are fully tax-deductible. Upon receipt of your gift, you will receive a gift receipt acknowledging your donation. You should consult a tax professional for more information on the tax deductibility of your gift.
